His actual name was Syed Manjhle but he was known as Manjhan Jaisi in literary circles. He was the son of Syed Piyara Hussaini and grandson of Maulana Syed Hassan Taj Bakhsh Jaisi. He was born at the end of the ninth century AH. His celebrated work was Madhu Malti, written at the behest of Farman Akbari and received a patronage of Rs. 590. Pandit Ram Chandra Shukla has written in his Tazkira that There is only one component of Manjhan's writing (Madhu Mati) which reveals his novel imagination and deep heartfelt impressions and proves that his study of Hindi literature was profound. Like Qutb's Margavati, Manjhan's Madhu Mati also has a Doha after five hemistichs, but Madhu Malti's imagination is stronger and more profoud than Margavati's.
