One of the most famous Marathi Saints, Tukaram is revered as much as Nanak and Kabir in the Maratha. He was born in 1609 AD in Dehgram, situated on the banks of the Indrayan River near Poona. A large part of his life was spent in Lohgaon. For Tukaram, poetry and hymns were great tools for self-peace. He has also written verses in Hindi.
