man shefta-e-jamāl-e-ūyam
dīvāna-e-ḳhad-o-ḳhāl-e-ūyam
I am an admirer of his beauty.
I am crazy about his complexion and features.
sairāb dilam na-shud ze aabe
man tashna-e-āñ zulāl-e-ūyam
Water alone will not quench my heart's thirst,
I crave the purest essence of it.
āshufta-e-zulf-e-āñ nigāram
sirr-e-gum-shuda-e-ḳhayāl-e-ūyam
I am a devotee of the beloved's (hair) locks,
I am the secret of their lost thoughts.
'ahmad' ba-hazār baar gufta
