saaqī mai-e-mā’rifat marā makramat ast
dar mashrab-e-be-mā’rifatāñ mā’siyat ast
be-mā’rifat aadmī che-kār aayad hech
maqsūd za aadmī hamī mā’rifat ast
O! Saqi, the wine of spirituality is thy blessing on me but in the draughts of non-spiritual men there is sin; what use is there of the non- spiritual man, the object of man's life is spirituality.
