Syed Karam Ali Shah lived during the reign of Ranjit Singh. He belonged to Qadri order and was a disciple of Pir Hussain of Batala, district Gurdaspur. He also practised Yoga and urges to sit in the Yogic posture called Tari or Samadhi and to perform the silent repetition of Hindu term Sohang. He teaches to kill the five enemies of man namely kam (Desire), Krodh (Anger), Lobh (avarice), Moh (attachment) and Ahankar (pride or self doer ship) according to the Hindu way of thought instead of Islamic Satan.
