Kabir, the paragon Indian saint tradition, is, on one hand, accepted as the pupil of Saint Ramanand Ji, and on the other, considered the disciple of Shaikh Taqi Suhrawardy of Jhunsi. He raised his voice against social conservatism, casteism and untouchability, and attacked all social evils in his Dohas, Pads, Jhulne, etc. He is also famous for his Ulat-Bansi. It is said, that in Kashi, Kabir’s house was in between, a brothel and a butcher house, and he used to do Satsangs there only. After his death, Hindus built his tomb in Varanasi, and Muslims built one in Maghar. His followers are called Kabir Panthi. Among his works, ‘Bijak-Granth’ is considered to be the most authentic of all. His works, too, find his way in the Guru Granth Sahib.
