About The Author

Ata Kakvi is a renowned writer, poet, and researcher from Bihar. His real name is Ata-ur-Rahman and his historical name is Shah Rizvi and Ghulam Amir. His father's name is Hazrat Syed Shah Ghafoor-ur-Rahman Abulolai Hamd Kakvi Ibn Shah Mubeen Kakvi. Ata Kakvi was born on 6 Rajab-ul-Murjjab 1322 AH in 1904 in Kako district of Jehanabad. His earlier education was taken care of by Hazrat Shah Akbar Danapuri. He completed his primary education and then entered Patna City School. Two years later, he entered the eighth grade of New College. He joined the Turkish movement of 1920 and gave up education. After two years, he became interested in education again. He got admission in 10th class in Gaya district school and in 1924 he passed the matriculation examination in first class. He first started his career as Headmaster at Khanqah Qadria School, Islampur, then at B.N College, and later as a Lecturer at Muzaffarpur Government College. He retired in 1962 and then became the Director of Arabic and Persian at Patna University. After this, he compiled an explanatory list of Persian manuscripts in the Khuda Bakhsh Khan library. In addition, Ata Kakvi was associated with many associations, movements, and scholarly and literary circles. He began composing poetry in 1925, when he was still a student. He was a student of Shad Azimabadi and wrote Ghazals and Rubais.In prose, too, he has rendered his services in the form of articles which have been published in all the major journals of India and Pakistan. Many of Ata Kakvi's books have come to light, including his own self-written, translated and compiled books. Ata Kakvi passed away on 18th March, 1998, on 18th ZilQa'da 1418 AH and is buried in Dargah Shah Arza'n, Patna.
