Born Syed Hussain in Mohan in 1887, his pen name was Afqar and his historical name was Zafar Waris. He belonged to Mohan's family Pirzad Gan. He was well versed in formal sciences and teaching. He was an expert in Arabic, Persian, and grammar. From an early age, he had a witty and mystical temperament. As the thought-consciousness increased, so did the sagacity. "Wahdat-ul-Wujood" is one of his key works. A collection of his ghazals has also been published under the name "Firdaus Ma'ani". His style of expression is very similar to that of the believer. That is why there are depths of penetration in his works. Afqar's poems were influenced by another God-given personality besides the believer who changed the course of his life. He was none other than Haji Waris Ali Shah with whom he took allegiance. From the very beginning, the mystic color was predominant. Then the love of Haji Waris Ali Shah further augmented this tenacity. He used to attend the Urs of Deva with sincerity and devotion and offer offerings of devotion in the presence of Waris Ali Shah. Afqar Mohani was a believer in classic Sufism and created his own cosmos of Sufism. He died in 1971 in Lucknow.
