A world-renowned poet of Sufi style.

Jameel Ahmad Murassapuri was born on July 15, 1931 in Murassapur, a village in Priyavan, near Manakpur in Pratabgarh. He received his early education at Madrasa Islamia Murassapur. His teacher was Anjum Fuqi Badawi. Jamil, too, turned to Mumbai like other leading poets of his time, thus, he enjoyed the company of Shakeel, Majrooh, and others. A notable work of Jamil consists of his poetry collection ‘Benam Si Khushboo’. Its foreword has been written by the eminent poet of Urdu literature Qaisar-ul-Jafari and researcher and critic Professor Mujahid Hussain Hussaini. Jamil Ahmed was very beautiful in his youth. Always chirping. Because of this, most of his friends were jealous of him. Whether a great or an ordinary poet, he met all with the same warmth and humility. He even he conducts poetry and literary programs. Every year Allama Iqbal's anniversary is celebrated which is attended by great poets and writers from Mumbai and its environs. He is also an art card designer by profession. Nadeem Siddiqui, one of his sons, too is well known in the literary world.
