Twenty-First Assembly (Khwan-Pur-Nemat)

Sheikh Sharfuddin Yahya Maneri

MORE BYSheikh Sharfuddin Yahya Maneri

Maulana Karimuddin said: When Gabriel was bringing the Quran to the Prophet, how many verses would he bring at a time? The Venerable Master said: It is related that five verses were brought at a time.

Again, he asked: Did a command issue forth from the Glorious Throne that five verses should be revealed to the Prophet at a time, or how did it happen? He replied: No, he would hear it in his own station and then bring it to the Prophet and reveal it to him.

Sheikh Muizzuddin asked: On the Day of Judgement when the earth, together with its surface, no longer exists, will hell be raised up? He replied: Yes, it will be raised up. The wisdom of this is that the faithful will be enjoying the blessings of Paradise while the infidels will be burning in the tortures of hell. When those in hell see the faithful enjoying the comfort and blessings of Paradise their torment will become acute; while the faithful, on seeing the distress of the infidels, will rejoice. It is similar to enmity between two people, both of whom are on the point of drowning. The first of the two to drown, even if he precedes his companion by a single breath, will afford an opportunity for the second to rejoice, even though he himself is about to drown. That shows the extent of his rejoicing at the destruction of his enemy.

Later on, he added: Some have said that, on the Day of Judgement, just as the faithful will be granted the vision of God, so too will the infidels, but only once. After that they will be carried off to hell. Thus, they will know what a blessing has been lost to them. The real point is that will be a marvel for the faithful but an increase in torment for the infidels.

    NOTE AND REFERENCE

    1. This very human argument is a contradiction of the metaphysical argument adduced in the twenty-ninth assembly wherein Sharfuddin's real opinion is found, namely that the vision of God changes a person permanently. Here he is speaking more in a pastoral manner.
