    az dair-e-muġhāñ aayam be-gardish-e-sahbā mast

dar manzil-e-lā būdam az bāda-e-illā mast

I am returning from the tavern of the Master of the Magian already in a state of intoxication, without having consumed wine; I was already intoxicated in the realm of (No) by the wine of Illā (Affirmation, referring to ilāha illā Allāh - There is no god but God).

dānam ki nigāh-e-ū zarf-e-hama kas bīnad

kardast marā saaqī az 'ishva-o-īmā mast

I know well that His gaze assesses the capacity of every soul, Hence, the Cupbearer intoxicated me merely with their own charm and grace.

    vaqtast ki ba-gushāyam mai-kHāna-e-rūmī baaz

    pīrān-e-haram dīdam dar sehn-e-kalīsā mast

The time has now come for me to re-open the tavern of Maulana Rumi; I have seen the elders of the Haram (Mecca) intoxicated within the courtyard of the Kalīsā(Church).

    iiñ kār-e-hakīme niist dāmān-e-kalīme giir

sad banda-e-sāhil mast yak banda-e-dariyā mast

This work is not for the clever and the calculating; you should cling to the hem of Moses (Prophet); A hundred people who remain intoxicated on the shore are not equal to one soul intoxicated within the Sea (of divine love).

dil ba-chaman burdam az bād-e-chaman afsurd

    mīrad ba-kHayābāñ-hā iiñ lāla-e-sahrā mast

I took my heart to the garden, but instead of blooming, it became despondent from the garden's breeze; This tulip (my heart) which is intoxicated in the desert withers away in the flowerbeds.

    az harf-e-dil āvezish asrār-e-haram paidā

    kāfirke dīdam dar vādī-e-bat.hā mast

The secrets of the Haram were being revealed through its charming voice; Yesterday, I saw an infidel person in the Valley of Batha (Mecca) uttering this in a state of spiritual ecstasy:

sīnāst ki fārān ast yā-rab che maqām ast iiñ

    har zarra-e-kHāk-e-man chashmest tamāshā mast

Is this the Valley of Sīnā or the Valley of Fārān? Oh Lord, what place is this? That every atom of my earthy body has become an eye, intoxicated by the spectacle.).
