muflisanem aamada dar ku-e-tu
muflisānem āmada dar kū-e-tū
shai.an lillāh az jamāl-e-rū-e-tū
We, the poor and destitute, have come to your street.
For God’s sake, grant us something of your beauty and grace —
a share in the rapture of beholding you.
jannat-ul-māvāst jānāñ kū-e-tū
sajda-gāhe āshiqāñ abrū-e-tū
O my beloved! Your street is a heavenly haven of refuge,
and your arched brows are prayer-niches at which lovers bow their heads in devotion.
dast ba-kushā jānib-e-zambīl-e-mā
āfrīñ bar-dast-o-bar bāzū-e-tū
Stretch out your hand toward this beggar’s basket —
blessed are your arms and your generous hand!
har che aayad dar nazar ġhair-e-tū niist
yā tuī yā bū-e-tū yā kū-e-tū
Whatever meets the eye is nothing but you — either it is your form, your fragrance, or your very qualities and virtues,
Indeed, in every face of nature, your radiance alone is manifest.
