raftī-o-ham-chunāñ ba-ḳhayāl-e-man andarī
goī ki dar barābar-e-chashmam musavvirī
You have gone, but you are still in our thoughts. It feels like an artist is standing in front of our eyes.
fikre ba-muntahā-e-jamālat namī-rasad
kaz harche dar ḳhayāl-e-man aayad neko-tarī
The imagination of your boundless beauty is impossible because whatever comes to our thoughts is beyond comparison.
tū ḳhud farishta-ī na aziiñ gul sarishta-ī
gar ḳhalq ze-ābo-ḳhāk tū az mushk-o-ambarī
You are an angel and crafted from flowers. While the entire world is made of earth and water, you have been created from fragrance.
mā rā shikāyate ze tū gar hast ham ba-tust
kaz tū ba-dīgare na-tavāñ burd dāvarī
If I have any complaint, it is only with you because apart from you, I have no hope for justice from anyone else.
chandāñ ki zohd buud davīdem dar talab
koshish che suud chuuñ na-kunad baḳht yāvarī
We wandered from door to door for asceticism and abstinence. Effort cannot bear fruit until fate accompanies.
'sādī' ba-vasl-e-dost chū dastat namī-rasad
baarī ba-yād-e-dost zamāne basar burī
O Saadi, when the union with the beloved is not attainable, then spend your life in the remembrance of the beloved.
