rū-e-tū shama' ast-o-mā parvāna aim
zulf-e-tū zanjīr-o-mā dīvāna aim
Your face is radiant like a candle, and we all are admirers of your beauty. Your locks are like chains, and we all are captivated by them.
bā-ġhamat dar manzil-e-'ishq-e-tu ḳhush
muddatī bāshad ki mā ham-ḳhāna aim
In the abode of love, I am happy with your sorrows,
There was a time when we were together.
'aql rā gum darda and az dīdanat
āñ-ki mī guftand mā farzāna aim
Upon seeing you, those people became envious
Who considered themselves extremely wise and knowledgeable.
tā hadīs-e-zulf-e-rūyat ḳhvānda aim
da.iman dar qissa-o-afsāna aim
As long as they were unaware of the tales of your face and locks,
We lived in the world of stories and legends.
ham-chu 'ahmad' dar bisāt-e-nard-e-'ishq
jān-o-dil dar bāḳhtan mardāna aim
We, too, are like Ahmad, those brave men
Who lose their entire life and heart's game in love.
