ai dil agar az ghubar-e-tan pak shawi
ai dil agar az ġhubār-e-tan paak shavī
tū rūh-e-mujassamī bar aflāk shavī
'arshast nashemant-e-tū sharmat baada
ki ā.ī-o-muqīm-e-ḳhitta-e-ḳhāq shavī
O! my heart if thou shalt be freed from the dust of thy body, thou wilt become only pure and wholly soul residing in the firmaments; the heaven high is thy seat, dost thou not feel shamed, that thou hast come and made the lowly dust of the earth thy abode.
