ai wae baran dil ki darun soze nist
ai vaa.e barañ dil ki darūñ soze niist
sauda-zada-e-mehr dar afroze niist
roze ki tū be-’ishq basar ḳhvāhī burd
zaayā tar azaañ roz turā roze niist
Unblessed is the mind wherein is no burning grief (for love), grieved is the mind which is not maddened with the love of a heart illuminating beloved; and if thou desirest to pass (waste) even one day without love making, no wastage can be more deplorable.
