Omar Khayyam

bā-nafs hamesha dar na-bardam che kunam

vaz karda-e-ḳhveshtan ba-dardam che kunam

gīram ki za man darguzrāni ba-karam

zaañ sharm ki diidī ki che kardam che kunam

With my (vain) desires always I battle what can I do, and what I have done causes me pain, what can I do I believe that thou wilt out of thy mercy forgive my sins, but the shame will be mine, that thou hast seen what sins I have committed, what shall I do (this thought is distressing).

ba-nafs hamesha dar na-bardam che kunam

waz karda-e-KHweshtan ba-dardam che kunam

giram ki za man darguzrani ba-karam

zan sharm ki didi ki che kardam che kunam

With my (vain) desires always I battle what can I do, and what I have done causes me pain, what can I do I believe that thou wilt out of thy mercy forgive my sins, but the shame will be mine, that thou hast seen what sins I have committed, what shall I do (this thought is distressing).
