bisyār ba-gashtem ba-gard dar-o-dasht
yak kār-e-man az gasht hamī nek na-gasht
dar nā-ḳhushe zamāna baare 'umram
gar ḳhush ba-guzasht yak-dame ḳhush na-guzasht
Long have I roamed round doors and the wilderness, yet from these passages, not one aspiration of mine was fulfilled; discontented with the age I passed on, and if one moment had I gained a pleasant instant, I would have considered it a life time of joy.
