qadr-e-gul-o-mul baada-parastan danand
qadr-e-gul-o-mul bāda-parastāñ dānand
ne tañg-dilāñ-o-tañg-dastāñ dānand
az be-ḳhabare be-kHiradāñ mā’zūr and
zauqest darīñ baada ki mastāñ dānand
Adoration of the rose and the taste of wine are known only to the devotees of wine, not to those who are narrow minded and miserly in dealings; due to the ignorance of these joys the fools are helpless, the wine has a special taste which is known only to veterans.
