dar charKH-e-ba-nawa’ sukHan-ha guftand
dar charḳh-e-bā-navā' sukHan-hā guftand
iiñ be-ḳhabrāñ gauhar-e-dānish suftand
vāqif chuuñ na gashtand bar asrār-e-falak
avval zanḳhe zadand-o-ākHir kHuftand
Of the sky they said many a thing (doctrines), these ignorant minds threaded many pearls of wisdom; when they failed to solve the mysteries of the skies, they talked for a while foolishly and then retired to eternal sleep.
