saaqī mai-e-ma.arifat marā makromat ast
dar mashrab-e-be-ma.arifatāñ ma.asiyat ast
be-ma.arifat aadmī che-kār aayad hech
maqsūd ze-ādmī hamī ma.arifat ast
O! Saqi, the wine of spirituality is thy blessing on me but in the draughts of non-spiritual men there is sin; what use is there of the non- spiritual man, the object of man's life is spirituality.
