Mahirul Qadri’s real name was Manzoor Hussain, he was born on July 30, 1907 in Kaiser Kalan, Bulandshahr district. He started his career in Hyderabad Deccan and then moved to Bijnor where he was the editor of Madina-e-Bijnor and Ghuncha. He spent most of his life in Hyderabad, Deccan, Delhi, Mumbai and then in Karachi. He also spent a few months in Multan. He had a bent for travelling. In 1928, he got an opportunity to work in various departments of the state of Hyderabad. In 1943, he moved from Hyderabad to Mumbai and gave a few years to the film industry. He wrote songs for many films which became very popular, but was never proud of his film career.s After the formation of Pakistan, he took up permanent residence in Karachi and published the scholarly journal Faraan, which continued shortly after his death. Risala-e-Faraan gave a new identity to Mahirul Qadri, and the magazine itself became distinguished in scientific and literary circles. Mahirul Qadri passed away on May 12, 1978, during a Mushaira in Jeddah, and was laid to rest in the cemetery of Jannatul Ma'alla in Mecca.
