    is ziist e'tibār kyā hai

    koī dam meñ ye zindagī havā hai

    guzrā hai nazar se ek a.alam

    ye chashm nahīñ hai naqsh-e-pā hai

    zālim Tuk idhar to dekh le

    koī pal meñ ḳhudā jaane kyā hai

    Dhānā to hai dil ke ta.iiñ va-lekin

    jaan ye ḳhāna-e-ḳhudā hai

    hai dīd-e-fanā hāsil-e-chashm

    uqda ye habāb par khulā hai

    zāhir hai tujhī se to ye a.alam

    mujh ko batā kahīñ chhupā hai

    duniyā se umīd-e-pā.edārdī

    ye vahm tirā kidhar gayā hai

    juuñ ā.īna muñh kisī se mat pher

    tere dil meñ agar safā hai

    kuchh paa.ī ḳhabar na maiñ ne dil

    kis ke vo ḳhayāl meñ gayā hai

    is zist ka e'tibar kya hai

    koī dam mein ye zindagi hawa hai

    guzra hai nazar se ek aalam

    ye chashm nahin hai naqsh-e-pa hai

    zalim Tuk idhar to dekh le tu

    koi pal mein KHuda hi jaane kya hai

    Dhana to hai dil ke tain wa-lekin

    tu jaan ye KHana-e-KHuda hai

    hai did-e-fana hi hasil-e-chashm

    uqda ye habab par khula hai

    zahir hai tujhi se to ye aalam

    tu mujh ko bata kahin chhupa hai

    duniya se umid-e-paedardi

    ye wahm tera kidhar gaya hai

    jun aaina munh kisi se mat pher

    tere dil mein agar safa hai

    kuchh pai KHabar na main ne dil ki

    kis ke wo KHayal mein gaya hai
