    vo jalva jis qadar nazdīk-tar ho duur ho jaa.e

    agar dil meñ samā.ae aañkh se mastūr ho jaa.e

    agar husn-e-nazar par 'ishq bhī maġhrūr ho jaa.e

    to ik din husn baḌh kar 'ishq se majbūr ho jaa.e

    yaqīnan un ko dasht be-ḳhudī meñ DhūñDh letā hai

    magar insān jab apne se kosoñ duur ho jaa.e

    taġhāful jilau meñ iltifāt-e-ḳhās hotā hai

    vo jis ko mai na deñ vo be-piye maḳhmūr ho jaa.e

    mohabbat hadoñ meñ āgayā bas yuuñ samajh liije

    jahāñ bhī dil ke hāthoñ aadmī majbūr ho jaa.e

    ye duniyā ek ’aks-e-jalva-gāh-e-husn-e-makHfī hai

    agar parde na hoñ ye bazm jal kar tuur ho jaa.e

    kisī sūrat se 'naḳhshab' dil ko yaksūī to hāsil ho

    vo jalva ’ādatan kyuuñ fitratan mastūr ho jaa.e

    wo jalwa jis qadar nazdik-tar ho dur ho jae

    agar dil mein samaae aankh se mastur ho jae

    agar husn-e-nazar par 'ishq bhi maghrur ho jae

    to ek din husn baDh kar 'ishq se majbur ho jae

    yaqinan un ko dasht be-KHudi mein DhunDh leta hai

    magar insan jab apne se koson dur ho jae

    taghaful ki jilau mein iltifat-e-KHas hota hai

    wo jis ko mai na den wo be-piye maKHmur ho jae

    mohabbat ki hadon mein aagaya bas yun samajh lije

    jahan bhi dil ke hathon aadmi majbur ho jae

    ye duniya ek ’aks-e-jalwa-gah-e-husn-e-makHfi hai

    agar parde na hon ye bazm jal kar tur ho jae

    kisi surat se 'naKHshab' dil ko yaksui to hasil ho

    wo jalwa ’adatan kyun fitratan mastur ho jae
