dard-e-dil mājrā kis se kaheñ

kaun hai dard-āshnā kis se kaheñ

dard sūrat uThā pahlū se vo

haa.e dil meñ dard uThā kis se kaheñ

maar Daalā intizār-e-yār ne

āñkhoñ meñ dam aa gayā kis se kaheñ

aap ne jo kuchh kahā ham ne sunā

apnī biitī ham bhalā kis se kaheñ

ishq ik parda-nashīñ hai hameñ

apnā qissa barmalā kis se kaheñ

un muñh paa.eñ to kuchh ham kah chaleñ

vo to haiñ ham se ḳhafā kis se kaheñ

aa ga.e haiñ ham balā ke pech meñ

kyā hai vo zulf-e-dotā kis se kaheñ

aa gayā ik sañg-dil par apnā dil

shīsha patthar se laḌā kis se kaheñ

vo to sunte nahīñ āshiq haal

jo sitam ham par huā kis se kaheñ

jalva-farmā dil meñ ai 'akbar' hai kaun

baat parde bhalā kis se kaheñ

dard-e-dil ka majra kis se kahen

kaun hai dard-ashna kis se kahen

dard ki surat uTha pahlu se wo

hae dil mein dard uTha kis se kahen

mar Dala intizar-e-yar ne

aankhon mein dam aa gaya kis se kahen

aap ne jo kuchh kaha hum ne suna

apni biti hum bhala kis se kahen

ishq ek parda-nashin ka hai hamein

apna qissa barmala kis se kahen

un ka munh paen to kuchh hum kah chalen

wo to hain hum se KHafa kis se kahen

aa gae hain hum bala ke pech mein

kya hai wo zulf-e-dota kis se kahen

aa gaya ek sang-dil par apna dil

shisha patthar se laDa kis se kahen

wo to sunte hi nahin aashiq ka haal

jo sitam hum par hua kis se kahen

jalwa-farma dil mein ai 'akbar' hai kaun

baat parde ki bhala kis se kahen
