naumīd kardan-e-vazīr murīdāñ rā az rafz-e-kHalvat
How the vizier made the disciples lose hope of his abandoning seclusion.
aañ vazīr az andarūñ āvāz daad
ki-ai murīdāñ az man iiñ mā'lūm baad
The vizier cried out from within, O disciples,
be this made known to you from me,
ki marā 'iisā chunīñ paiġhām kard
kaz hama yārān-o-kHveshāñ baash fard
That Jesus hath given me a such-like message:
‘Be separated from all friends and kinsfolk.
rū-e-dar dīvār kun tanhā nashīñ
vaz vujūd-e-ḳhvesh ham kHalvat-nashīñ
Set thy face to the wall, sit alone,
and choose to be secluded even from thine own existence.’
baa'd aziiñ dastūrī-e-guftār niist
baa'd aziiñ bā-guftugūyam kaar niist
After this there is no permission (for me) to speak;
after this I have nothing to do with talk.
alvidā.a ai dostāñ man murda-am
raḳht bar chārum falak bar burda-am
Farewell, O friends! I am dead:
I have carried my belongings up to the Fourth Heaven,
tā ba-zer-e-charkH naarī chuuñ hatab
man na-sozam dar 'anā-o-dar 'atab
In order that beneath the fiery sphere
I may not burn like firewood in woe and perdition,
pahlū-e-'īsā nashenam baa'd aziiñ
bar farāz-e-āsmān-e-chārumīñ
(But) henceforth may sit beside
Jesus at the top of the Fourth Heaven.
naumid kardan-e-wazir muridan ra az rafz-e-kHalwat
How the vizier made the disciples lose hope of his abandoning seclusion.
aan wazir az andarun aawaz dad
ki-ai muridan az man in ma'lum baad
The vizier cried out from within, O disciples,
be this made known to you from me,
ki mara 'isa chunin paigham kard
kaz hama yaran-o-kHweshan bash fard
That Jesus hath given me a such-like message:
‘Be separated from all friends and kinsfolk.
ru-e-dar diwar kun tanha nashin
waz wujud-e-KHwesh hum kHalwat-nashin
Set thy face to the wall, sit alone,
and choose to be secluded even from thine own existence.’
ba'd azin dasturi-e-guftar nist
ba'd azin ba-guftuguyam kar nist
After this there is no permission (for me) to speak;
after this I have nothing to do with talk.
alwidaa ai dostan man murda-am
raKHt bar chaarum falak bar burda-am
Farewell, O friends! I am dead:
I have carried my belongings up to the Fourth Heaven,
ta ba-zer-e-charkH nari chun hatab
man na-sozam dar 'ana-o-dar 'atab
In order that beneath the fiery sphere
I may not burn like firewood in woe and perdition,
pahlu-e-'isa nashenam ba'd azin
bar faraaz-e-asman-e-chaarumin
(But) henceforth may sit beside
Jesus at the top of the Fourth Heaven.
