aañ ki dil burd ze-man ġhamza-e-jādū-e-tū buud

vaañ ki jaañ ba-tan āvurd hama bū-e-tū buud

It was your enchanted, spellbinding glances that captured my heart,

And it was your fragrance that breathed life into my body.

kāfirāñ sajda ki dar pesh-e-butāñ mī-kardand

hama sū-e-tū buud va hama rū-e-tū buud

Why should the infidels not bow before idols,

When every face reflects you, and in every direction, it is only your face that is seen?

    sammā vaj.hullāh chū guftī ze-sū-e-dair-o-haram

ka.aba har ki rasīdem sar-e-kū-e-tū buud

When you declared, with regard to temple and sanctuary alike, “Then, wherever you turn, there is the Face of God,”

We found that whichever street we entered, it was the Ka‘bah that appeared before our eyes.

    sub.h-dam bād-e-sahar zulf-e-tū barham zad

    dil-e-miskīn-e-'hasan' dar ḳham-e-gesū-e-tū buud

At dawn, the morning breeze scattered your tresses,

And the heart of this poor Hasan became ensnared within your locks.

aan ki dil burd ze-man ghamza-e-jadu-e-tu bud
