ai husn-e-tu dar aaina-e-kaun ayan ast
ai husn-e-tū dar ā.ina-e-kaun ayaañ ast
vai dīda-e-ushshāq ba-rūyat nigarāñ ast
O you whose beauty gleams in the universe’s looking-glass, Holding every lover spellbound before your face.
dar mai-kada-e-ishq shudam mast ki aañ yaar
ḳhud bāda-o-ḳhud-sāqī-o-ḳhud-pīr-e-muġhāñ ast
I was lost in the intoxication of love, for my beloved is the wine itself,
The pourer of the cup, and the wise master of the Magians.
aañ husn ki dīvāna-e-ū gasht do-ālam
dar parda-e-āñ-zulf-e-dotā az che nihāñ ast
What reason has such breathtaking beauty, before which both worlds stand undone,
To hide beneath those twin cascades of hair?
az mahshar-e-husnat hama jā shor-o-fuġhāñ ast
gar masjid-o-but-ḳhāna va gar dair-e-muġhāñ ast
The uproar of your splendour echoes everywhere:
In the mosque, the temple, and the Magian lodge.
chuuñ 'auhadī' aañ husn-e-dil-ārā-e-tū diida
dīvāna-vashāñ girya-kun-o-ḳhanda-zanāñ ast
When Auhadi glimpsed your heart-stealing loveliness,
He trembled between laughter and tears like a man bewitched.
