bū-e-yār-e-meharbānam ārzūst
rāhat-e-rūh-o-ravānam ārzūst
I desire the fragrance of my kind friend, and my wish is the comfort and tranquility of my beloved.
ḳhirqa-o-shamla che car aayad marā
dard-e-dil soz-e-nihānam ārzūst
This cloak (old and kissed garment or the garment given by the spiritual master to make one a disciple and grant them khilafat and ijazat) and shayla (a kind of shawl) are not relevant to me; my desire is only the burning pain in my heart.
karda am siina hadaf ai turk-e-mast
yak nazar ai jān-e-jānam ārzūst
Oh delighted and intoxicated Turkish beauty, you have made my heart a target, but oh my dear beloved, I am a seeker of your gaze.
be-ḳhudam kun zaañ do chashm-e-mast-e-nāz
yak nazar ai jān-e-jānam ārzūst
To see her beauty with eyes of certainty is a better desire than doubts and suspicions.
tā jamālash bīnam az chashm-e-yaqīñ
bartar az vahm-o-gumānam ārzūst
Ahmad, just as you have become weaker in love, I also desire the youthful fortune of my destiny.
'ahmadā' chuuñ gashta-ī dar ishq piir
quvvat-e-baḳht-e-javānam ārzūst
