jalva-e-zāññ dil-sitānam ārzūst
To see this beloved is the desire of my heart, and I long for the sight of this beloved.
shoḳhī-e-nāz-e-butānam ārzūst
āfat-e-īmān-o-jānam ārzūst
I desire the playful coquetry of the beloved, and I yearn for the struggle between life and faith.
jaañ fidā-e-āñ nigāh-e-mast-e-nāz
ġhamza-e-zāñ dil-sitānam ārzūst
This life is devoted to those intoxicated eyes, longing to win over the heart with their gestures and expressions.
'ahmadā' ḳhāk-e-rah-e-mai-ḳhāna-em
himmat-e-pīr-e-muġhānam ārzūst
Ahmed, we remain in the dust of the tavern, desiring the courage of the venerable sage.
