jaan ze tan burdi-o-dar jaani hanuz
jaañ ze tan burdī-o-dar jaanī hanūz
dard-hā dādī-o-darmānī hanūz
You have taken my life from my body, yet a soul still remains within it,
You have caused me great pain, but its remedy is yet to come.
āshkārā sīna-am ba-shigāfatī
ham-chunāñ dar siina pinhānī hanūz
You have torn my chest apart completely,
Yet you still remain hidden within it.
mulk-e-dil kardī ḳharāb az teġh-e-nāz
vandarīñ vīrāna sultānī hanūz
With your fragile sword of beauty, you have shattered the empire of my heart,
Yet in this desolation, I still hold dominion.
har-do-ālam qīmat-e-ḳhud gufta-ī
nirḳh baalā kun ki arzānī hanūz
You have shown the value of yourself in both worlds;
Increase your worth even more, for it is still devalued.
pīrī-o-shāhid-parastī nā-ḳhushast
'ḳhusravā' tā kai pareshānī hanūz
In old age, vanity is not a good thing.
Khosrau, how long will you remain afflicted by this distress?
