ma soKHta-e-mohabbat-e-yar
mā soḳhta-e-mohabbat-e-yār
shaidā-e-jamāl-e-rū-e-dil-dār
We are burning in the love of the beloved,
We are devoted to the beauty of the beloved.
dīvāna shudem dar havāyash
uftād marā ba-āñ parī kaar
We have become crazy in his love,
It is because of this fairy that we are plagued with all troubles.
jānam ba-rubūd husn-e-jānāñ
dil burda za man jamāl-e-āñ yaar
The beauty of the beloved has taken my life away,
My heart is stolen by the grace of this beloved.
chuuñ zinda-ī 'ahmadā' tū be-rūh
burda dil-e-tū butān-e-tarrār
Oh Ahmed, you are like a lifeless body,
Your heart has already been enchanted by that mischievous idol.
