dil mi-rawad za-dastam saheb-dilan KHuda-ra
dil mī-ravad za-dastam sāheb-dilāñ ḳhudā-rā
dardā ki rāz-e-pinhāñ ḳhvāhad shud āshkārā
O pious of the heart, I am lost in a love, so great,
O pain the hidden secrets will become open debate.
kashtī shikastgānem ai bād-e-shurt bar-ḳhez
bāshad ki baaz bīnam aañ yār-e-āshnā rā
Shipwrecked we just float, O favorable wind arise,
May we one more time gaze upon that familiar trait.
āshā.ish-e-do-getī tafsīr-e-īñ do-harfast
bā-dostāñ talattuf bā-dushmanāñ mudārā
For peace of this world and the next, understand what I advise,
Magnanimity the lot of friends, and with foes try to relate.
dar kū-e-nek-nāmī mā rā guzar na dādand
gar tū namī-pasandī taġh.īr kun qazā rā
In the land of repute, our passage they will dispute
this will not suit, don't stay mute, and transmute dictates of fate.
'hāfiz' ba-ḳhud na-poshīd iiñ ḳhirqa-e-mai-ālūd
ai sheḳh-e-pāk-dāman ma.azūr-dār mā rā
With this wine stained robe, Hafiz would never disguise,
O untainted pure Master, exempt us from this fate.
