mī-ravam bāshad ki bīnam rū-e-yār
ai 'ināyat haañ ki aamad vaqt-e-kār
I am going to meet my friend,
Yes, it's time for my work.
jaañ ba-dast-e-kHesh darda mī-ravam
tā kunam dar kū-e-yār-e-ḳhud nisār
I am taking my life with me,
So that I can sacrifice my life at the doorstep of my beloved.
'aql-e-man masrūf jām-o-sāġharast
vā.izā dast az man dīvāna-vār
My mind is occupied with thoughts of the cup and the wine,
Oh preacher, let me remain mad.
bā tu dar mai-ḳhāna-am bāshad namāz
be-tu-am dar kā'ba na-buvad kārobār
With you, even the tavern will become a place of worship,
But without you, no task can be accomplished even in the Kaaba.
chuuñ sulaimāñ bā-tu dārad baak niist
garche baa-ū dev mardum hasat yaar
Because Solomon is with you, he is not afraid,
Even though, O my friend, there is a human named Satan with him.
