ma gauhar-e-kan-e-la-makanem
mā gauhar-e-kān-e-lā-makānem
dar darj vujūd-e-ḳhud nihānem
We are the gems of the realm of the Divine or the Transcendent, concealed and hidden within our own existence.
duniyā na-buvad nasheman-e-mā
shahbāz fazā-e-lā-makānem
The world is not our home; we are the eagles of the realm of the transcendent space.
gar parda za-rū-e-ḳhud kushā.em
maqsūd vujūd-e-īñ-o-ānem
If we remove the veil from our faces, our existence will be visible here and there.
sūdā-e-’azīm darda bāshem
gar qīmat-e-jān-e-ḳhud ba-dānem
If we are aware of the value of our lives, then we have made a great trade.
mā bulbule-e-’ishq-bāz alastem
mā sulsul-e-para-sāz jānem
We are the nightingales in love with Alast (allusion to a Qur'anic phrase signifying mankind's oath of allegiance to Allah), and we possess the art of creating the melody's veil.
hal gardad mushkilāt ahmad
gar parda za-rū-e-kHud fishānem
Ahmed's difficulties will be resolved if we ourselves remove the veil from our faces.
