ai aayat-e-mushaf-e-ilahi
ai āyat-e-mus.haf-e-ilāhī
tuġhrā-e-misāl-e-bādshāhī
O! The verse of divine scripture and the example of royal decree.
dar tust har āñche būd-o-bāshad
malak-o-malakūt har che ḳhvāhī
What is, what will be, and whatever governance and kingship exist, all is by your power.
anvār-e-ḳhudā ba-chashm-e-ġhairat
dīdem ba-sūrat-e-māhī
We saw the light of God in envy, in its own form.
ḳhūbāñ jahāñ asīr-e-pesht
zerā ki amiir har sipāhī
All the virtuous people in the world bow before you because you are the commander of every army.
bar qadd-e-kHusht qabā-e-kHūbī
raast aamad az āñ-ki kaj kulāhī
It is true that your tall stature and accomplishments are being displayed like the attire, the attire of royalty.
az roza hazār baar ḳhush-tar
bā-yār sharāb-e-sub.h-gāhī
It is a thousand times better to have the morning drink with your beloved than to observe a fast.
be-yād-e-tū sharbate ki nosham
dar mashrab-e-māst az manāhī
I am prohibited from drinking the alcohol that I consume without the remembrance of you.
'ahmad' chu za-vasf-e-gashta 'ājiz
aamad bar tū ba-’uzr ḳhvāhī
Ahmad, who lacks any notable qualities for speaking, has come to seek your forgiveness.
