ai jalva-gar-e-nihāñ 'ayāñ sho badar aa
dar fikr ba-justem ki hastī tu kujā
ḳhvāham ki dar āġhosh-o-kanārat gīram
tā chand tu dar parda numā.ī ḳhud rā
O Thou living behind the veil, come out and be visible,
How I have searched where Thou couldst be !
I want to press Thee hard in my arms.
How long wouldst Thou keep Thyself concealed ?
