ayyam-e-bahaar muttaqi jam kashad
ayyām-e-bahār muttaqī jaam kashad
hañgām-e-ḳhizāñ kHumār-e-īñ naam kashad
mai-nosh ki sayyād-e-falak mī-gardad
har roz darīñ fikr ki dar daam kashad
In the season of flowers an ascetic takes to drinking ;
And in autumn he feels drowsiness at the thought of it.
Drink wine, O Sarmad ! the hunter of heaven is on the move,
Every day planning to snipe at you.
