ba-fikr-o-kHayal-e-kas na-bashad karam
bā-fikr-o-kHayāl-e-kas na-bāshad kāram
dar taur-e-ġhazal tarīq-e-‘hāfiz’ dāram
ammā ba-rubā.ī am murīd-e-‘kHayyām’
ne jur'a-kash-e-bāda-e-ū bisyāram
With the thoughts and ideas of others I have no concern; Though in style of ghazals I am a follower of Hafiz.
As for quatrains, I am a disciple of Khayyam,
But I have tasted little the wine he offered.
