nā rafta rah-e-sidq-o-safā gaame chand
ba-girifta za tāmāt alif laame chand
badnām kunanda-e-nikū-nāme chand
Those who go about in decayed and tattered garments, have never travelled on the highroads of purity and righteousness; have selected a few alifs and lams (alif: straight; lam crooked) from doubtful words only to defame honesty and goodness.
