chandan dil-e-nadan ba-gham-e-sim-o-zar ast
chandāñ dil-e-nādāñ ba-ġham-e-sīm-o-zar ast
kū vaqt-e-namāz ham ba-fikr-e-digar ast
dar vahm-o-kHayāl-e-īñ-o-āñ beshtar ast
az fikr-e-ma.āl kār-e-ḳhud be-ḳhabar ast
My foolish heart has such a craving for gold and silver,
That even at the time of prayer it wanders elsewhere.
It is deeply lost in desires for this and that.
And is quite heedless of the consequence of the affairs.
