dar zer-e-falak 'aish na-kardam yak-dam
shud 'umr-e-girāmī za kaf az dard-o-alam
dar daulat-e-duniyā do taraf nuqsānast
bisyārī-e-ū ranj-o-kamī maya-e-ġham
Upon the earth I felt no peace for a moment.
The life passed only in pain and grief.
This worldly wealth is bad in either case :
Its excess gives trouble and its dearth grief.
