fāriġh na-shudī za ḳhud pasandī hargiz
aagah na-shudī za sūd-mandī hargiz
ḳhvāhī dar jahāñ yak taraf rāġhib sho
ġhair az taraf-e-taraf-e-taraf na bandī hargiz
You never came out of the evil of self-love.
And did not become conscious of your real means of gain.
If you want both the worlds, turn to one side,
Except to that single path, attach not yourself to any.
