fasl-e-gul-o-ayyām-e-kHazāñ diida buvad
maa.il na-shavad ba-rañg-o-bū-e-gul-o-mul
nādīda shumārad āñche ḳhud diida buvad
One who wants to know the transitory nature of time
Should study how the spring yields place to autumn.
One should not be deceived by tint and scent of rose and wine; But what is seen should be regarded as unseen.
