in mardum-e-duniya za KHuda be-KHabarand
iiñ mardum-e-duniyā za ḳhudā be-ḳhabarand
har shām-o-sahar dar talab-e-sīm-o-zarand
az pahlū-e-ham digar jigar resh tarand
har chand ki chuuñ bād-e-sabā dar guzarand
These men of the world are careless about God,
Every morn and eve they think of gold and silver.
They suffer at heart in each other’s company.
Though like the breeze they are to pass away swiftly.
