in qaum ki dar dosti-e-sim-o-zarand
iiñ qaum ki dar dostī-e-sīm-o-zarand
ġhāfil za ḳhudā-o-dushman-e-yak digarand
har chand nasīb-e-hama paivasta judāst
dar baḳhshish-e-haq ba-yak digar kiina varand
These people who are lovers of gold and silver
Are careless about God, and foe to each other.
Although each one has his own predetermined lot
Yet they grudge against each other at God’s gifts.
