man banda-e-asiyam raza-e-tu kujast
man banda-e-'āsiyam razā-e-tū kujāst
tārīk dilam nuur safā-e-tū kujāst
mā rā tū bahisht agar ba-tā'at baḳhshī
iiñ muzd buvad lutf-o-'atā-e-tū kujāst
They say that thou wilt be happy in festivity with Hurs, in Paradise, I say, however, the liquor of the grape is more full of joy, hold fast the cash of the present and do not rely on promises (credit), for they are only pleasant to hear from a far like the music of the drum.
