aan ba-ki darin zamana kam-gire dost
aañ ba-ki darīñ zamāna kam-gīre dost
bā-ahl-e-zamāna sohbat az duur nikūst
aañ kas ki ba-jumlagī turā takiya ba-dost
chuuñ chashm-e-ḳhud baaz kunī dushmanat uust
Let thy friends be few in this age (of insincerity), deal, without intimacy, with them; for a friend who is intimate and (apparently) sincere, will stand as enemy if the eye of wisdom is turned on him.
