mi-bayad bud-o-mardume bayad bud
mī-bāyad būd-o-mardume bāyad buud
sar tā-ba-qadam ba-dard mī-bāyad buud
daa.im sabaqe za 'ishq mī-bāyad ḳhvāñd
dar kūcha-e-dost gard mī-bāyad buud
May wine be there and the person (to drink it) may be there, from head to foot love should be with the pain; for all time a lesson from love should be learnt one should be dust in the lane where the loved one resides.
