'sarmad' gila-e-yār niko shud ki na-shud
lab-e-behūda guftār niko shud ki na-shud
minnat-kash-e-dahr mī shavī āḳhir-kār
kaare ki za tū kaar niko shud ki na-shud
It’s good, Sarmad, you have not complained against thy beloved;
It’s good, you have avoided talks of indecency.
You should be grateful to the time ;
The deed which was not good has not been done.
